Peter Fowler has continued his incredible recent form to claim a second consecutive European Senior Tour title at the ISPA Handa PGA Seniors Championship in England overnight.
Fowler headed into the final round with a four-stroke lead over Austria’s Gordon Manson and eventually claimed the title by three after a 1-under 70 round four ended his week on 12-under.
"This is certainly a good one. I was up there from start to finish and to play a couple of rounds with Carl Mason on a weekend, you can’t ask for better than that," said Fowler.
"Over the course of the whole week, this is the best I have played for a few years,"
"My putting has been the best it has been for a long, long time, and I’m wrapped with that. You can’t win tournaments without your putting,"
It wasn’t all plain sailing for Fowler during the final round at Close House in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, with the winner of last week’s Acorn Jersey Open making a double bogey on the ninth to see his lead disappear.
Fowler quickly eliminated his mistake as he progress to the back nine where three birdies later had ensured a fifth European Senior Tour win.
"Two wins in a row is something that doesn’t happen very often. There’s a lot of years of hard work, almost 15 years, to get to this stage, so it’s been worth it."
Aussies Terry Price and Mike Harwood finished inside the top-20 ending their week on 3-over and 4-over respectively.
