Victorian Josh Younger and New South Welshman Aron Price have both fired two consecutive rounds of 6-under 64 to share the lead at the Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship presented by Wippells Volkswagen.

The pair shares the lead at 12-under the card at the halfway mark of the tournament at City Golf Club.

Teeing off in the first group of the day, Younger started with an eagle and handed in his second blemish free card of the week.

“It was a bit of the same as yesterday. I was lucky enough to make an eagle on the 10^th which was my first hole,” said Younger.

“Things kept rolling from there and I was bogey free again which was nice, I’m looking forward to the weekend.

“I haven’t had a bogey in two rounds so that’s been a big help, normally my tendency is to make a few birdies and then give a few back.”

Younger began his season on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia with a tied 7th finish at the Oates Vic Open and a missed cut at the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 Perth but says his game is in good shape.

While not working on anything in particular over the off-season, Younger also secured status on the Asian Tour for the 2018 season through Qualifying School.

“I didn’t really do too much in the off-season but things have started to click a little bit. Towards the end of last year it was a bit frustrating, I felt I was playing pretty solid but my results weren’t showing that,” added Younger.

“But the Oates Vic Open was good and this week’s been good so far.”

The City Golf Club course hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Younger in the past, a T27 his best result in the last three years.

“I’ve played here most times the tournament has been here but I’ve never really challenged come the weekend, this is by far the best position I’ve been in after two rounds,” added Younger.

“It’s good, it’s a little bit firmer than previous years which I think makes it a little bit trickier, the ball is bouncing a bit more.

“You’ve just got to keep it in play around here, it can test you but if you’re in the fairway it’s a little bit easier, scoring is usually pretty good here so you’ve got to keep going.”

Aron Price was left a little disappointed with his second round, missing some birdie opportunities on his back-9.

“It was a little different from yesterday, I hit a lot of fairways and a lot of greens yesterday, today I missed a couple of fairways and a couple of greens,” said Price.

“A couple of times I was in the trees I hit some nice recovery shots. I left a lot out there yesterday not so many today, maybe a couple on the last two.

“All in all, I’m pretty happy, once again if you had offered me 64 at the start of today I would’ve taken it.”

Price, who has previously spent time playing on the PGA TOUR has said he’s looking forward to playing in front of a chasing pack as round three approaches.

“It’s going to be good to be in the mix, I haven’t played much under the pump for the last couple of years so I’m looking forward to it,” added Price.

Maverick Antcliff provided the highlight of the morning with an ace on the par-3 8^th hole, hitting his pitching wedge in from 120 metres.

Not to be outdone, City Golf Club Professional Chris Britnell used his course knowledge to record the second hole-in-one of the day hitting his 4-iron in to the par-3 4^th hole from 186 metres.

Daniel Fox (WA), Brett Rankin (QLD), Darren Beck (NSW), Matt Millar (ACT) and Jake McLeod (QLD) share third position at 10-under the card.

Kris Mueck (VIC), Damien Jordan (QLD) and Kieran Muir (NZ) round out the top-10 at 8-under the card.

Round three begins at 7:40am with Aron Price and Josh Younger teeing off from the 1^st tee at 10:40am.

The cut was made at 4-under par with 50 Professionals and two amateurs making the weekend rounds.

The Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship presented by Wippells Volkswagen will be played at City Golf Club from 15-18 February.

Rounds three and four will be live streamed on PGA TV with round three beginning at 12:00pm and round four beginning at 10:00am local time.
