The Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series event was reduced from three rounds back to a two round event following a deluge of rain on Friday evening which closed the Tieri Golf Club to play on Saturday.
On a perfect day for scoring, spectators were treated to some spectacular golf at the Tieri Golf Club as the chase was on to catch the round one leaders.
Williamson started the day as joint leader with Aaron Townsend and Dane McArdle and played solidly in his final round, reeling off 10 birdies and just the one bogey on his way to a 9-under 64 scorecard.
Williamson made the turn at 5-under 32 and closed with five straight birdies on his final five holes.
“I’ve been reading this awesome book called Relentless, which was written by a guy who works with many famous Basket ball players and it really kept me in a great headspace allowing me to remain focused out there today,” said Williamson.
“I’ve been working really hard on my game with my Coach Michael Gannon. It’s difficult being away for long periods of time playing but we have managed to do Skype calls and video analysis which has kept my game on track.
“I played with Justin Warren today and we were neck and neck on the back-9 which definitely made me really focus and spurred me on.”
Sunshine Coast based professional Luke Paroz started the day three shots behind the leaders but fired the low score of the tournament and a career best 11-under 62 to storm home and finish outright second.
“I’m thrilled with my round today,” said Paroz.
“It’s been a long time since I have played the Onsite Rentals Mining Towns Series and it was a last minute decision to travel to Queensland to play this swing of events. I’m travelling with my wife and kids and we have been on the road now for 6 months playing Pro-Ams.
“The course was presented well for the tournament and the greens were some of the best we have played in recent months, full credit must go to all the volunteers who give their time on the course.
“The recent reconstruction of some of the holes has really transformed this golf course into one of the best in the region.
Brett Rankin and Justin Warren finished in third position on a score of 14-under 132 ahead of Aaron Townsend who rounded out the top five at 13-under the card.
Tim Hart still holds a commanding lead in the Onsite Rental Group Mining Towns Series, currently sitting on 49-under par, five shots clear of Brett Rankin who sits on 44-under followed by Williamson on 38-under.
The next stop on the Onsite Rental Group Mining Towns Series is the Blackwater Country Club for the ABM Contractors Blackwater Pro-Am where play begins at 6.45am on Wednesday 12 June 2019.

The 14th staging of the Glencore Oaky Creek Coal Tieri Pro-Am will see 51 professionals compete for prize money of $35,000 across three days of competition at an event that has established itself as one of the premier pro-ams on the Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series schedule in recent years.
This 2019 Onsite Rental Group Mining Towns Series has attracted one of the strongest fields of professionals ever assembled across the six events, reading more like an ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia field list.
2018 ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australia Order of Merit runner up Matthew Millar will headline this year’s field; other notables include Steven Jeffress, Daniel Gale, Darren Beck, Matthew Stieger, Brett Rankin and the 2018 Glencore Oaky Creek Coal Tieri Pro-Am winner Jacob Boyce.
A full schedule of events is planned across the weekend beginning this afternoon with the Sponsors Golf Day where those companies supporting the event will enjoy a round with the professionals before they get down to business in tomorrow’s opening round.
The party hole will be in full swing for the Sponsors Day followed by dinner under the stars with an accompanying acoustic performance. This event always offers a little more for our professionals and this year in no different with a physio and hairdresser on site throughout the event.
On Saturday evening the club will host a dinner for the professionals followed by entertainment with the final round of the pro-am to conclude on Sunday evening followed by presentations.
The Tieri Golf Club course presents in fantastic condition and has undergone some major construction and design works thanks to the hardworking volunteers who have given their time to prepare the course ahead of this year’s event.
Past winners have returned for the event including Paul Hayden (2017) and defending champion Jacob Boyce who played brilliantly to win last year.
The 2019 Glencore Oaky Creek Coal Tieri Pro-Am will see 51 professionals tee it up alongside the amateurs beginning at Tieri Golf Club from 7:00am on Friday 7 June. Marquee players are scheduled for a 12:00pm start.
Entry to the Tieri Golf Club will be free for the public to catch some of the best golfers in the country compete for the AU$35,000 prize purse over three days of competition.

Sunshine Coast-based Boyce shot rounds of 8-under 65 and 9-under 64 for a tournament total of 17-under to win by one shot from Brett Rankin who fired two consistent rounds of 8-under 65 for a 16-under par total.
Boyce’s round included eight birdies an eagle coming at the par-5, 13th hole where he played a 9-iron approach into 10 feet and holed the putt, his only blemish was on the par-4, 11th hole where he recorded a bogey after hitting it over the back of the green.
“The wind was really gusty at times," said Boyce.
“Especially out the back of the course where the holes are much more exposed, you had to be careful with club selection, I made this my main focus for the day.
“I struck the ball so well today, every shot seemed to finish next to the flag which gave me a lot of birdie opportunities.
“I’m thrilled to walk away with the win here and I am looking forward to continuing this good form into the next event.”
Overnight leader Paul Hayden finished the event in third position after shooting rounds of 9-under 64, 6-under 67 to finish 15-under the card.
Queenslander Brett Rankin still holds a commanding lead over the field for the Onsite Rental Group Mining Towns Series at 45-under par and has extended his lead to seven shots over Paul Hayden who is currently sitting at 38-under par.
The final event on Onsite Rental Group Mining Towns Series tees off Friday 1 June at the Dysart Golf Club.
The Onsite Rental Group Dysart Golf Club will also be celebrating their 40th Anniversary of Pro-Am golf when play gets underway on Friday morning.
