MyGolf, Australia’s national junior golf programme, has been selected as one of 12 sports to make up a new pilot that will see golf enter schools and motivate participation.

"The PGA is delighted to see MyGolf selected as part of the Sporting Schools pilot program and a positive step towards golf being readily available to children throughout Australia," said Brian Thorburn, Chief Executive Officer of the PGA of Australia.

"A junior golf participation strategy is vital to the future sustainability of our sport and the PGA has spent considerable time investing in a single national junior golf brand alongside Golf Australia,"

"Junior golf has a positive impact on participation and assists in the development of our next generation of Australian golfers." Thorburn added.

MyGolf provides juniors between the age of 5 and 12 with the opportunity to learn the basics of golf through coaching clinics at participating golf clubs and facilities.

The flexible program aims to make golf a fun experience and encourage boys and girld to take up the sport.

PGA Professionals and Community Coaches implement MyGolf around the country and play a significant role inspiring, teaching and nurturing the next generation of Australian golfers.

The Federal Government has committed $100 million to invest in strengthening the connection between schools and sport.

Sporting Schools aims to be Australia’s largest participation program for all children and replaces the Australian Sports Commissions Active After-school Communities programme.
