Brad Kennedy and Michael Hendry continue their battle for top Australasian honours on the 2016 Japan Tour money list when they tee up at this week’s Fujisankei Classic.
Hendry has been the standout player of the 2016 season with six consecutive top-10 finishes, five of those top-5’s including last week’s T2 alongside Kennedy at the KBC Augusta event.
Kennedy has been almost as good with five top-10’s from 10 starts, four of those top-5’s including two runner-up results.
Hendry currently leads the money list battle between the two with $570,000 in earnings to Kennedy’s $395,00 but the Queenslander will be looking to narrow the gap this week.
A T6 finish at this event last year will have the former New Zealand PGA champion confident heading into the week while Hendry’s form at the Fujizakura Country Club is less than stellar.
The New Zealander has missed the cut the past two years and has a best finish of T20, in 2013, though his play in 2016 suggests he will improve on that this week.
Hendry is fifth on the Order of Merit while Kennedy is eighth, the only two Australasians currently inside the top-25.
Adam Bland is 26th as of this week with Won Joon Lee next best in 51st.
Both are teeing up this week as are Matt Griffin, Kurt Barnes, Scott Strange, David Smail and Brendan Jones.
