Recent PGA Trainee graduate and 2018 NSW/ACT Trainee of the Year Mitchell Harry has won the two-day Queanbeyan Pro-Am.

Harry sat tied for the lead alongside former Iowa State player Ruben Sondjaja after day one with rounds of 4-under 66. A final round total of 2-under 68 saw Harry claim victory by three shots at Queanbeyan Golf Club over Victorian Anthony Marchesani.

Battling high winds, Harry showed experience beyond his years to claim his first Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series win over season players like Matthew Millar, Michael Long and Simon Hawkes.

“I haven’t been down to Queanbeyan for about 11 years so it’s nice to be back,” said Harry.

“This golf course, the greens are very similar to where I play in Sydney at Monash Country Club.

“When the greens are so fast it can be hard to read your putts so I definitely feel that was an advantage for me.”

Conditions played a large part in determining a winner in round two, with Harry’s final round score becoming even more impressive given only three players broke par in the final round.

After a poor start on the front-9, Anthony Marchesani completed the run back to the clubhouse in 3-under 32 to secure a runner-up finish with a tournament total of 3-under 137.

Completing the tournament in third place was overnight co-leader, Ruben Sondjaja, at 2-under 138 with a final round score of 72.

Rick Kulacz and Darren Beck rounded out the top-5 on even par 140 ahead of Steven Jeffress and Michael Long in 6th place.

The NSW/ACT swing of the Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series will move to Yowani Country Club on Thursday.
