Craig Hancock (TAS) has secured his third win of the season in the WA/NT Choice Hotels Pro-Am Series with a one shot victory in the Hose Power Palmerston Pro-am today. Hancock posted a -4 score of 67 which was good enough to win. Held in perfect August conditions at the Palmerston Golf Club Hancock was pushed all the way today by an in-form Mitchell Brown (NSW) and pro-am first timer Unho Park (NT) who both posted scores of (-3) 68’s.
Hancock now leads the WA/NT Order of Merit after playing only eight events. "I’ve really hit my mark whilst playing in WA and now NT across this division," said Hancock. "The Order of Merit race has now come up on my radar, and I’ll be doing my best to play in the rest of the WA/NT events so that I can secure the end of season bonus."
"This is my first visit to Palmerston Golf Club and I’m certainly glad I made the effort. It’s a tough little course that demanded accuracy and distance control. There was just enough breeze to ensure the scoring wasn’t too low. So we really had to grind it out and stay patient," – Hancock added.
Park a Darwin native has spent the last fifteen years plying his trade on the Asian Tour and just happened to be home visiting family when he saw the local events had come to town. Park said, "I’ve really enjoyed playing these events. They are a different format out here and that’s what makes these days unique." I can’t wait to play tomorrow now on the golf course I grew up on as kid."
With only a few rounds to go to finish the WA/NT swing of the Choice Hotels Pro-Ams, the race is hotly contested between Andrew Martin (VIC), Mitchell Brown (NSW) and our new leader Craig Hancock.
