Nick Simpson from Monash Golf Club holds a one-stroke lead at the Car Net Auctions NSW/ACT Trainee Professional Championship after round one at Riverside Oaks Golf Resort.

Simpson carded a 4-under 68 to hold a one-stroke lead ahead of Gosford Trainee, Mitchell Ballard, while Victorian and defending champion, Deyan Lawson, shot 1-under 71 to be three shots off the lead going into round two after three straight bogeys on his final three holes.

The Car Net Auctions NSW/ACT Trainee Professional Championship is the first PGA sanctioned event on the new Bungool course located one hour North West of Sydney. The course will also host the NSW PGA in December as final event on the Tour schedule.

Round two gets underway at 6:50am tomorrow.
