It was a roller coaster week for Geoff
Drakeford at the Swiss Challenge where he mixed some brilliant play with some
inconsistency to be the only Australian to make the cut on his way to a mid
field finish.

"GeoffAn opening 68 had the big hitting Victorian
in a share of third after 18 holes but he fell off the pace with a second round
73.

However, two eagles and two birdies in the
third round saw Drakeford sign for the best score of the day, an impressive 66,
to move back into the top-10 and be just three shots out of the lead with one
round remaining.

But as good as his Saturday play was
Drakeford was equally disappointing Sunday when he made a double, a triple and
a bogey alongside two birdies on his way to a 4-over front nine to fall off the
pace.

A second double bogey on the back nine was
offset by two birdies but the damage had been done, a 5-over 76 sending him
plummeting 30 places down the leaderboard.

It was a finish Drakeford could ill afford
as he plays with limited status on Europe’s secondary Tour but he will take
some confidence from the highlights of the week.

David Bransdon was the only other
Australian to tee up in the event but missed the cut by a shot after scores of
73-71.
