The Coca Cola Nelson Bay Pro-Am teed off yesterday under beautiful blue skies and a golf course that was picture perfect.

The club had planned a Pro Am in 2015 but unfortunately a fire destroyed the Nelson Bay clubhouse.

Given the Nelson Bay Golf Club hadn’t hosted a pro-am for many years most players were seeing the course for the first time.

Jake Higginbottom & Andrew Evans who shot respective 2-under par 70’s in the morning would hold onto a one stroke victory from Aaron Townsend.

Townsends 1-under par 71 meant that only three players were able to break par for the day.

“The golf course was in fantastic condition and the greens were very fast. I’ve never played here before and I was really impressed. It’s definitely a course that helps if you’ve played it before," Evans said.

The Ladbrokes PGA NSW/ACT Pro-Am Series heads to Hawks Nest today.
