Charles Wright and Campbell Rawson have fired rounds of 7-under 65 to lead after round one of the 2015 Tahiti International.
Both
are playing the event for the first time and Wright said it has been a great
way to start his campaign.
"It’s
a really strong field and I knew that I would need to play well to have any
chance to win," said Wright.
"The
course played really well today and there were plenty of opportunities to make
birdies," added the 24-year-old.
Wright
carded seven birdies which included four in a row on his way to a front nine 5-under
the card on the Atimaono layout located about 45 minutes drive from the capital
city of Papeete.
Rawson
who hails from New Zealand posted seven birdies; the blemish free round
sees the youngster ahead of a chasing pack which includes Brad McIntosh who
posted a 6-under- 66.
Other
notable rounds included a five-under 67 from New Zealand’s Daniel Pearce and a 3-under
69 from recent SIFA Samoa Open champion Mitchell A. Brown.
Round
two begins with a 9:00am shotgun start.
