Colin Hunt shot the low round of the morning field with a 3-under 67, and endured a long wait while the afternoon field battled the course.
It would end up being good enough for Hunt, with Michael Harwood and Mike Zilko only managing 2-under par 68 in the afternoon.
Hunt’s round equalled the course record, set by amateur Blake Wellington in February of this year.
“It’s a great way to cap off the year, winning here at Maleny,” said Hunt.
“Unfortunately I missed the cut at the Sunshine Coast Masters, but it turned out to be a blessing as it gave me a chance to play a round yesterday.
“The course is great here at Maleny and I look forward to returning next year, and I urge anyone in the Maleny area to come and play this wonderful course.”
Coming into the final event on the Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour with a slender lead, Brad Burns finished ahead of his nearest competitor in Tim Elliott to be crowned the 2017 Labrokes Legends Tour Order of Merit champion.
