Adam Scott has added to his excellent record at the Riviera Golf Club, the 2005 Genesis Open winner once again claiming top Australian honours at the famed California layout.
Scott, the champion in 2005, has only twice finished outside the top 20 in nine appearances at and at T14 this week has kept that record intact.
On a difficult week where weather disrupted play over the opening two days Scott produced rounds of 68-69-68-70 to be 9-under-par for the tournament and T11.
While winner Dustin Johnson ran away with the event Scott led a strong Australian challenge and was inside the top five heading to the final round.
Despite shooting under par over the final 18, however, the 2013 Masters champion slipped six places down the leaderboard.
Fellow Queenslander Cameron Smith was next best four shots behind, a final round of 1-over-72 disappointing for the second year PGA TOUR player after opening with three consecutive scores of 69.
Smith will be encouraged with many aspects of his play having made 18 birdies for the week but will no doubt be looking to tighten up areas of his game after giving back 13 shots as well.
Cameron Percy and Jason Day were the last of the Australians to make the cut, Percy fading after a brilliant opening round had him just two off the lead on day one.
The South Australian’s opening 66 before play was suspended Thursday came on the back of a strong finish the previous week at Pebble Beach which earned him a spot at Riviera.
For Day the news was less exciting, the 28-year-old limping to a T64 finish caused predominantly by a third round 75.
Day’s scores of 70-70-75-71 were less than his best though his form is improving from what he showed when missing the cut at Torrey Pines three weeks ago.
Marc Leishman will also be disappointed with his week after a second round 76 saw him miss the cut by one, Greg Chalmers also falling into that category with rounds of 72-71.
John Senden, Aaron Baddeley, Geoff Ogilvy and Steven Bowditch were the others who failed to qualify for the weekend.
