Wynnum is
famous for hosting the largest one day Pro-Am event on the PGA Pro-Am Series
Sunshine Swing Tour and this is no exception as the Club marks the 37th Bartons
/ BMD Wynnum Pro-Am.

This year’s
event has again attracted a star studded line up of players for the final
Sunshine Swing event for the season before the players take  a well earned
break.

Peter Senior,
Ian Baker-Finch, Terry Price and Tim Elliot flew the flag for the PGA Legends
Tour taking on the likes of James Nitties, Rhein Gibson, Brett Rankin and
Ashley Hall after his stellar few weeks on the PGA Tour of Australasia.

After recent
storms, the Wynnum layout presented itself beautifully for the 98 Professionals
and was set up for low scoring.  

Loyal
tournament sponsor Mick Power from BMD said how much he enjoys sponsoring this
event every year

skills before heading to the world stage as we have seen times over the years."

Last year’s
winner Tim Hart was unable to defend his title as he is currently competing in
South Africa. Tim has used the knowledge and experience gained here on the PGA
Pro-Am Series to step up and make his mark on the international scene.

Brett Rankin
was the clubhouse leader after this morning’s round carding a 7 under par score
of 63 which included a mixed bag of seven birdies, two bogies and an eagle.
Although there were 42 players under par, none could go lower than 64 making
Rankin the 2016 Barton/BMD Wynnum Pro-Am champion. 

"I am really
happy with the win today especially after what was a disappointing event at the
Australian PGA last week" said Rankin

"The field
here this week is one of the best we have ever seen so to be standing up here
makes it all that rewarding, not to mention the $10,000 cheque coming at a
great time before Christmas"

Brett Rankin
was also in a tussle with Damien Jordan for the 2016 Order of Merit. Jordan
took an early lead after a solid start to the season on the PGA Pro-Am Series,
but Rankin has finished the season with two wins. The pressure was on for
Jordan as he teed off needing to make in excess of $650 to ensure his finish at
the top of the Order of Merit, and when he managed a more than credible 65, the
$10,000 bonus cheque was secured.
