The town of Kalgoorlie, which is famous for gold, has hosted the TX Civil and Logistics WA PGA Championship since 2012 and the Professionals have arrived in town again this week for the tournament which
will be played at Kalgoorlie Golf Course from 12-15 May.
This week’s tournament follows on from another hugely successful Nexus Risk TSA Group WA Open and a week of PGA Pro-Ams in WA, so players have come to Kalgoorlie in top competition form.
Players that are in-form ahead of teeing off this week include Aaron Wilkin, Ben Clementson and Matt Millar who all took out wins last week on the PGA of Australia Pro-Am Series while New Zealand Rookie Lachlan McDonald walked away with two victories.
The Graham Marsh designed Kalgoorlie layout provides a solid test each year for the Professionals who usually also battle the summer temperatures in the desert. With the tournament now being played in May, rather than October, they will need to rug up with the cold mornings ahead.
The TX Civil and Logistics WA PGA Championship tees off on Thursday with the champion decided on Sunday.
Playing for a prize purse of $120,000; Official World Golf Ranking points are also up for grabs as well as exemption onto the PGA Tour of Australasia until the end of 2017 for the winner.
