Players to watch at the NSW PGA Championship

While the Triple Crown might be complete for another year
the golfing action continues this week at the NSW PGA Championship.

"RheinAs the last event on the PGA Tour of Australasia schedule,
the NSW PGA Championship has attracted a strong field with plenty on the line
to be played for.

While the Order of Merit has already been won by Nathan
Holman, players will still be fighting it out this week for the final standings
which will affect their playing opportunities for next year.

Players competing this week that we think will perform well
include:

Rhein Gibson: Having
Rhein competing at the NSW PGA Championship is a real coup for the tournament. The
highest ranked player in the field, Rhein is a seriously talented player who
has gone from strength to strength in his career, his hard work earning him a
PGA TOUR card for the 2015/2016 season. A player who can go extremely low when
he gets going, he is very deserving of all the plaudits that come his way. A
player of Gibson’s calibre is hard to look past this week.

Dimitrios Papadatos:
Dimi comes into the NSW PGA Championship fresh from a tied 6th
finish at the Australian PGA Championship last week. His performance on the
challenging RACV Royal Pines Resort course should have him full of confidence
this week at Riverside Oaks. Dimi also played some good golf at the European
Tour’s Qualifying School a few weeks back but missed getting his card by one
shot. An extremely talented player, this could be his week to take out his
second win if he can keep fatigue at bay.

Matt Millar:
After the season Matt has had he should feature in five players to watch every
week. Last week his stellar season was recognised at the Greg Norman Medal when
he was awarded the 2015 PGA Tour of Australasia Player of the Year. Matt
continued his good form last week finishing tied 6th at the
Australian PGA Championship. That becomes his 10th top-10 finish
from 13 starts, in amongst that was his first win on the PGA Tour of
Australasia at the Holden NZ PGA Championship.

Peter Lonard: A
name that every Aussie golf fans is familiar with, Peter Lonard has shown some
glimpses of the top form which has seen him win nine times on the PGA Tour of
Australasia. He finished tied 4th at the NSW Open a month ago and
then tied 9th last week at the Australian PGA Championship. In fact,
he was one of only six players to break par in the final round at RACV Royal
Pines Resort.

Deyen Lawson: A
PGA Trainee, Deyen Lawson is familiar with this week’s layout after playing the
NSW/ACT Trainee Professionals Championship on it in August. He is one of six
Trainee Professionals who competed in the tournament that are also playing this
week. While Braden Becker the NSW/ACT Trainee champion is also in the field, we
think that Deyen who finished 3rd, will be more comfortable
competing in the PGA Tour of Australasia tournament. This will be his third
Tour event this year with his best finish coming at the NSW Open when he placed
tied 14th, while this will be Braden’s first time competing on the
PGA Tour of Australasia this year.

Other notable players in the field this week include 2015
PGA Tour of Australasia winners Ben Eccles, James Nitties, Daniel Fox, David
Bransdon and Aaron Townsend as well as Web.com Tour players Bronson La’Cassie
and Ashley Hall.

The NSW
PGA Championship will tee off on Thursday 10th December with the champion
decided on Sunday 13th December.

Along with the winner’s share of the $110,000 prize purse
the champion will earn status on the PGA Tour of Australasia until the end of
2017 and Official World Golf Ranking points.
