The pair were elated with their win after partnering with each other in the event for over 20 years.

" We’ve been playing together for a long time and we always have a lot fun in this event. To finally win it is great".

In windy conditions, Onions and Holden were the only pair to break par and held on for a three stroke victory over Darren Beck and John Serhan.

Six pairs were tied third one shot further back including defending champions Matthew Millar and Grant Thomas.

With records going back to 1949, Onions and Holden now join some of the legends of Australian golf who have won the title including Kel Nagle, Bill Dunk, Frank Phillips and Bruce Devlin.

In the Senior Foursomes category, Peter Fowler along with long time coach and mentor Ian Alexander took out the title finishing with a round of 74 and breaking Alexander’s age by an impressive five shots.

Interesting, Alexander took out the NSW PGA Foursomes Championship 55 years earlier in 1960.

The foursomes’ championship coincided with the PGA NSW/ACT Annual State Divisional Meeting which was attended by over 140 members including the PGA’s oldest longest serving Member Dan Cullen DFC.

One of the highlights of the meeting was honoring significant membership milestones with Lindsay Sharp and Raymond Wilson (50 years) and Edgar Oakman and Kevin Tierney (60 years) recognized.

Other business included the election of the State Vocational Committee with Morisset Head Professional David Stretton being re-elected as Chairman and The Ridge Golf Course General Manager Gary Booby elected as Vice Chairman.

Special mention was made to the service of professional Richard Beer who retires from the State Committee after 25 years of service to the PGA at both state and national level.
