Over 350 golf industry stakeholders congregated at Curzon Hall in Sydney to celebrate the inaugural NSW Golf Industry Awards.

The evening saw the major state based golfing organisations coming together the collectively celebrate the achievements of clubs and individuals across all levels and professions of the sport.

With awards from Golf NSW, Jack Newton Junior Golf, Golf Management Australia (NSW), NSW Golf Course Superintendants Association, the ALPG and the PGA of Australia, there was representation from regional and metropolitan clubs, general managers through to apprentices, junior amateur golfers right through to seniors and professionals.

PGA Life Member Jack Newton OAM received repeated praise throughout the evening for the legacy he created through Jack Newton Junior Golf which has been developing golf in NSW and the ACT for over 30 years. Through the support of golf clubs and it’s Territory Managers, Jack Newton Junior Golf provides competition and game development pathways such as the National MyGolf program. PGA Australia Chairman Rodger Davis paid tribute to Newton.

“ He is an icon of Australian golf. The dedication and influence he has had on junior golf not just in NSW but across the country is immense and on behalf of all PGA Professionals, I thank you," said Davis.

Cameron Davis, a recent graduate out of the Jack Newton Junior Golf and Golf NSW High Performance Program won the NSW/ACT PGA Player of the year while his coach Khan Pullen took out the NSW/ACT PGA Coach of the year honours.

General Manager of The Ridge Golf Course and Driving Range Gary Booby took out the NSW/ACT PGA Management Professional of the year and Jason Laws took out the NSW/ACT Game Development Professional of the Year.

Killara Golf Club was successful in winning the Ladbrokes Legends Tour NSW/ACT Tournament of the Year with the David Mercer Senior Classic with Club Professional Greg Hohnen giving praise to his mentor and close friend of whom the tournament is named.

Wagga Wagga Country Club had a productive night winning the NSW/ACT Ladbrokes Pro-Am of the year while their club professional Kurt Stegbauer took out the prestigious NSW/ACT Club Professional of the Year.

The individual PGA Award winners will now progress to the Greg Norman Medal dinner in conjunction with the Australian PGA Championship where they will become the state nominees for the national awards.
