Perfect conditions once again greeted players for round three of the Ian Weigh Toyota Rockhampton Pro-Am, with 35 of the 50 Professionals that made the cut managing to break par in today’s round.
Round three is known as moving day and that is exactly what Daniel Nisbet did on course today.
After almost withdrawing earlier in the day with a fever, Nisbet recorded 9 birdies and an eagle to break yesterday’s course record round of 62 set by Lincoln Tighe, with an astonishing 11 under par 61.
"I really don’t know how I did it today, especially with the way that I have been feeling over the past few days," remarked Nisbet.
"When you go into a round with little or no expectation, I guess you relax a little more and that’s what occurred out on course today. Hopefully I can take that same approach into tomorrow’s final round and walk away with a good finish."
Nisbet was joined late in the day by Steven Jeffress and overnight leader Lincoln Tighe who all finished the third round at 14-under. Michael Sim is in striking distance only two back from the lead group, while the defending champion Troy Cox is shot further back.
The final round of the Ian Weigh Toyota Rockhampton Pro-Am gets underway tomorrow at 6:50am, while the lead group of Jeffress and Nisbet is due to tee off at 12:30pm.
