Local boy Jed Morgan has made a sensational run to the top of the leaderboard at the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship at Royal Queensland today.
Meanwhile Victorian Su Oh retains her comfortable lead in the Fortinet Australian WPGA Championship with her second-round tee time more than an hour away.
Morgan, 21, a five-year member at Royal Queensland who won the 2020 Men’s Australian Amateur at this venue, started early at the 10th tee and rolled in four birdies on the back nine.
By the time he made another birdie at the par-four second hole, he was at 11-under par and leading the tournament by a whopping five shots.
Overnight leader Louis Dobbelaar, also a Queenslander, has dropped a shot today.
Both the main pursuers in the women’s event, Grace Kim and Karis Davidson, are on the course as they try to run down Oh, who shot 66 on Thursday.
They have picked up a shot each to be within two of LPGA Tour star Oh, who tees off today at 11.30am local time.
Many players are adorned in the yellow colours today in honour of the late Jarrod Lyle and the Challenge cancer network.
