Marc Leishman’s best finish in more than a month came with a bitter after-taste after the Victorian bogeyed three of his final four holes to finish just outside the top-10 at the PGA TOUR’s Quicken Loans National tournament at Maryland.

""In what will likely be his last start until The Open at Carnoustie in three weeks’ time, Leishman was on track to post four sub-70 rounds for just the second time this year until his late stumbles on the 15th, 16th and 18th holes resulted in a tie for 13th.

The hottest player on the planet right now, Italian Franceso Molinari, streeted the field to record the first PGA TOUR win of his career by an astonishing eight shots, Tiger Woods shooting 66 in the final round to finish tied for fourth.

For Molinari it was his second tournament title in his past four starts, the 35-year-old emphasising his red-hot form with a second-place finish at the Italian Open three weeks ago.

Cameron Percy made the most of his 10th start on the PGA TOUR this year to qualify for the weekend and finish in a tie for 33rd, the only other Australian player to make the cut, Geoff Ogilvy and Aaron Baddeley both missing on the number.

This week sees the PGA TOUR head to The Greenbrier for the Military Tribute where five Australasian players are due to tee it up.
