Rory Bourke started the day tied for the lead and came out firing. Teeing off on the 10th he opened with a birdie and was 2-under after three holes.
However through the middle of his round Bourke founded the conditions to get more challenging and dropped three shots before a birdie on his second last hole saw him host 1-under 70 to be in the clubhouse leading outright on 5-under the card.
Also experiencing an extremely mixed day on course was David Bransdon. He fired 1-under the card but entered score return unsure of just how he ended up on the score.
His scorecard was colourful with seven birdies, two bogeys, two double bogeys and just a sprinkling of seven pars decorating it.
Bransdon is now one shot behind Bourke and aiming to join his mate Matthew Millar, who is also on 4-under the card, on the 2015 PGA Tour of Australasia honour roll.
While happy to see his friend playing well, Millar hopes that his weekend won’t feature a pairing with travelling companion Bransdon, history showing they don’t play well together.
Michael Sim who is also starting to experience some return to form held steady today with just one bogey and two birdies to be 4-under the card for two rounds.
Rohan Blizard and Scotty Laycock fired the rounds of the morning, 5-under 67 moving them up to 2-under tied 11th and 1-over tied 24th respectively.
After the morning field the cut is currently predicted to be at 4-over the card.
The afternoon field is now on course.
