Lawson eyes trainee triple

Curlewis trainee Deyen Lawson holds a four shot lead heading into the final round of the 2015 CPM Southern Trainee Championship.

Curlewis trainee Deyen Lawson holds a four shot lead heading into the final round of the 2015 CPM Southern Trainee Championship.

"DeyenLawson fired a solid 3-under 69 to cement his place at the top of the leader board and will find himself in the final group for the third consecutive year.

"It was a real grind out there today. I tried to make sure I didn’t miss the greens on the wrong side, hole a few putts and post a score."

"This will be the third year I’ll be competing in the final group here at Tocumwal and I feel my mental state has improved immensely."

"I’m just going to go out there and play my own game, shot by shot and not worry what anyone else is doing."

Should Lawson continue his run of form and capture the Championship, he will hold all three east coast trainee titles, an achievement he is determined to attain.

"It means a lot to have this opportunity to hold all three titles and I’ll be going out there tomorrow to do just that."

Four shots back is fellow Victorian Ryan Laird who has played consistently all week to sit at 4-under par total.

Taylor Cooper found some much needed form on moving day carding a 4-under par 68, moving him into a share of third at 2-under par with Adam Burdett. Coopers round got off to a slow start before five birdies on the back nine ensured him a place in the final group tomorrow.

Unfortunately overnight co-leader Adam Porker was forced to withdraw from the third round due to a hamstring injury.

The final round of the Championship commences tomorrow morning on the Captain’s course at 7:30am with the leaders teeing off at 8:51am.
