Late stumble costly for Fox

It is his best result in a full fledged European Tour event but Ryan Fox will be disappointed with a top-30 finish at the Czech Masters after a bogey-double-bogey end to the tournament saw him slip down the leaderboard.

""Fox, one of the hottest players in the game the past two months, fired bookend rounds of 73 at the Albatross Golf Resort but sandwiched scores of 67-69 in between to eventually finish T27.

While he was T10 at the Madeira Islands Open earlier this month that tournament was co-sanctioned with the Challenge Tour.

Fox will rued the back nine holes at the Czech resort after limping home in 2-over for that stretch on Thursday and 4-over on Sunday, the final round costing him a place in the top-10.

However, the two-time PGA Tour of Australasia winner can take plenty of positives from the week after posting 16 birdies over the four days to offset a smattering of poor holes.

Sitting fourth on the Challenge Tour Order of Merit Fox is guaranteed a full European Tour card next season and opportunities to play events on the main Tour, such as this week, will only enhance his chances of success in 2016.

Fox was the best of the Australasians with Terry Pilkadaris the only other to make the cut.

After his runner-up finish last week the West Australian was keen to back up with some good play this week but, like Fox, found the going tough in the first and last rounds.

An opening 73 saw both players barely inside the top-100 heading to Friday so making the weekend was a good effort.

A second round of 3-under 69 was the highlight of the week for Pilkadaris who never seemed able to get any momentum going the rest of the week.

Nathan Holman and Jason Scrivener both missed the cut by one shot at even par through 36 holes while Daniel Gaunt struggled from Thursday with rounds of 74-75 to be well outside the mark.
