It was a tough week for the strong Australian contingent at this week’s Dunhill Links Championship with just two of the 12 in the field making the final day.

Richard Green and Jason Scrivener played all four rounds in the pro-am format but 10 others missed the cut, three of them by a single shot.

Nick Cullen, Ash Hall and Brett Rumford all finished three rounds on 3-under-par, one shot shy of what was required to make the final day, while David MacKenzie and Nathan Holman were a further shot back.

Wade Ormsby, Jack Wilson, Matt Griffin, Brody Ninyette and Dimi Papadatos were all well down the field.

For Green his T18 finish was a good result in a tournament where he has traditionally struggled. The left hander has missed the cut in each of the last two years and his best finish in five previous attempts was a T29 in 2011.

Green started the final day mid-field after rounds of 68-71-71 but a solid 4-under 68 around the Old Course at St Andrews, one of three courses used for the tournament, saw him move 18 places up the leader board.

The round was highlighted by four front nine birdies but things weren’t quite as good after the turn with another two birdies offset by two bogies.

Jason Scrivener’s highlight for the week was a 4-under 68 in Saturday’s third round at the Kingsbarns course.

Scrivener posted seven birdies for the day against three bogies but more importantly shot exactly the score required to qualify for the final round.

A 2-under 70 on Sunday at the Old Course moved him 19 places up the leader board and earned him a cheque for € 13,892.
