After a play-off loss last year Peter Fowler has continued his good play at the Senior Italian Open posting a T6 result at Golf Club Udine at the weekend.

Only a final hole bogey kept Fowler out of the top five, his 9-under tally for the three days ultimately good for a share of sixth position.

After opening with 66 to be just one off the pace Fowler couldn’t quite maintain the pace of the leaders and with rounds of 70-70 finished four shots out of a play-off.

A cheque for €10,800 keeps Fowler in the top 10 on the Senior 9our Order of Merit, the five time winner now eighth through four events.

New Zealand’s Greg Turner was next best after Fowler in a share of 17th while Mike Harwood, the last Australasian in the field, never really got going on his way to finishing T35.
