Eccles, Munro make trip to Spain

Jack Munro and Ben Eccles will be the lone Australians flying the flag when this week’s Challenge Tour event tees off in Spain.

""The pair are both listed in the field for the Challenge de Espana to be played at the Izki Golf course in the Alava Province.

Both Australians are making their third starts for 2018 on the European secondary Tour, Eccles teeing up in both Kenya and Turkey while Munro played Kenya and China.

Munro will try to keep alive a perfect cut streak this week having finished T28 in Kenya and T43 in Japan while Eccles displayed some decent form in finishing T26 in Turkey last week.

Eccles has limited status on the Tour this year after finishing 88th on the 2017 Order of Merit but after receiving a sponsor’s invitation last week will be looking to capitalise on a rare start this week.

Munro, too, has limited opportunities courtesy of his European Tour Q-School performance at the tail end of last year where he finished T50.

That wasn’t enough to earn status on the main Tour but will give him access to some events on the secondary Tour in 2018 should he choose to pursue them.
