Sydney’s Brett Drewitt has ridden two four-hole hot streaks to rise to a top-15 finish at the Evan Scholars Invitational and make a significant move on the Web.com Tour Order of Merit.

Beginning the final round just inside the top 30, Drewitt made four consecutive birdies from the second to the fifth hole to generate serious Sunday momentum and then finished off in the best possible fashion.

A bogey at the par-3 11th moved Drewitt back to 3-under on his round but another run of four straight birdies starting from the par-5 14th hole moved him up to a tie for 14th, a two-putt par at the par-5 last rounding out a 7-under 65.

A birdie at the second playoff hole saw American Scottie Scheffler turn a final round of 9-under 63 into a Web.com Tour title ahead of Marcelo Rozo, the pair one shot clear of Nicolas Echavarria.

On the back of three missed cuts, Drewitt’s last round heroics delivered his best result of the year and a move from 90th to 72nd on the Web.com Tour Order of Merit.

Kiwi Tim Wilkinson maintained his spot within the top 25 on the moneylist with a tie for 42nd with Travis Smyth making the most of his Monday qualifying to play all four rounds and finish tied for 53rd, level with countryman Rhein Gibson at 5-under par for the week.

On the PGA TOUR-Latino America Tour Harrison Endycott produced a stellar weekend to log his second top 10 result in succession at the 60 Abierto Mexicano de Golf tournament in Tijuana.

Starting the final round two shots behind fellow Australian Ryan Ruffels, Endycott stormed home with three birdies in his final four holes for weekend rounds of 65-66 and a tie for ninth that moved him up one spot to 18th on the Order of Merit.

Four shots off the lead and tied for third through three rounds, Ruffels countered five birdies with five bogeys to finish with an even-par round of 70 and a tie for 17th, dropping one spot to be fifth on the moneylist.

In the opening event of the Mackenzie Tour season in Canada, Australia’s sole representative Ruben Sondjaja produced four rounds of even par or better in finishing tied for 51st at the Canada Life Open in Vancouver.
