After a disappointing showing at last week’s Kazakhstan Open Nick Cullen has made the journey to Italy for the Terre dei Consoli Open hoping to turn things around at one of richest events on the secondary Tour.
Cullen, a former Australian Masters champion, has played just six events on the Challenge Tour but with three consecutive top-10’s prior to last week’s missed cut has made an impact.
While the left hander has made it clear his ambition is to play either the European Tour or Web.com Tour, he is making the most of some recent good form and with a strong finish to the season a top-15 on the Road to Oman, and status on next year’s main tour, is not out of the question.
Cullen will be looking to start that run this week at an event that shares honours as the second richest on the Challenge Tour schedule.
Cullen and Daniel Gaunt are the only two Australasians in the field, New Zealand’s Ryan Fox electing not to tee up.
Gaunt currently sits 64th on the Road to Oman and needs some good results in the last four events of the season if he is to climb into the top-45 who retain full cards for next season.
