Nick Cullen will continue his pursuit of a 2018 European Tour card when he is one of three Australians to tee off in the inaugural Viking Challenge in Norway this week.
Cullen currently lies 30th on the season long Road to Oman with the intent to play his way into the top 15 who graduate to next year’s main Tour.
The 2014 Australian Masters champion has committed to a full schedule on the secondary Tour this season and the decision is paying dividends with some good results.
He has made the cut in all nine event she has played to date with three top 10 finishes including a T9 last start in Sweden two weeks ago.
Cullen will be joined at the Miklagard Golf Club by Ben Eccles and European Tour veteran Richard Green who makes just his career start in a full field Challenge Tour event.
He played this year’s co-sanctioned Portugal Masters but his only previous appearance on the secondary Tour came in 1995.
Green shares a home in Norway with fiancé Marianne Skarpnord and his support of this week’s tournament will no doubt be welcomed by Tour officials.
The final Australian in the field this week, Ben Eccles, will be looking to turn around some indifferent form last week where he missed the cut in Northern Ireland.
It was an unfortunate stumble for the Victorian whose T11 finish the week prior in Finland had shown some encouraging signs in his game and he will be looking to recapture that in Norway.
