Victorian Professionals Stacey Keating and Jack Wilson took their pre-tournament routine down a new path on Tuesday afternoon as they checked out the 13th Beach Golf Links layout from fifty thousand feet.

Defending Oates Vic Open women’s champion Keating along with Wilson took part in the pre-tournament stunt that saw the two skydive from high above the Barwon Heads layout.

"That was amazing," said Keating who had skydived once previously. "It’s such a rush."

"I’ve never experienced anything like that before. I want to do it again, that was phenomenal," added Wilson, who was on a huge high following the jump.

Both Wilson and Keating will head into this week’s Oates Vic Open as two to watch as the unique event brings together the PGA Tour of Australasia and the ALPG.

Wilson, who jumped to prominence late last year when he finished third at the Australian PGA Championship behind Adam Scott and Rickie Fowler, has now completed his PGA Traineeship and is looking forward to directing his full attention to tournament golf.

"It was a fantastic year," said Wilson reflecting on his last six months that began with his first Professional win at the WA PGA Championship in Kalgoorlie.

"I had Christmas to sit down and review everything and I’m certainly further ahead than I expected to be at this point."

With goals to eventually play on the PGA TOUR, this year Wilson says he’ll focus his attention on the PGA Tour of Australia and Asia and will also look to venture over to Europe and hopefully play alongside good friend and fellow Kingswood Golf Club member, Marcus Fraser.

"He’s a massive influence for me and one of my mentors," he said.

"I’d love to get over (to Europe) and play alongside him and have him there to guide me through."

As for this week, Wilson is positive of his chances however is also cautious of the talented Oates Vic Open field.

"It’s an awesome field this week. I’ve put a lot of hard work in over the last few months and hopefully everything goes to plan and I can have a good week."

"I’m feeling a lot more confident than I have in previous years and I’m looking forward to it. It’s great to be out here competing and be able to call this my life."

The Oates Vic Open will tee off on Thursday 20th February and will conclude on Sunday 23rd.
