Young Guns Lead in Broome

West Australian young guns have shown no fear in the first round of the 2015 Broome Furnishings Carpet Paint and Tile Pro-Am.

West Australian young guns have shown no fear in the first round of the 2015 Broome Furnishings Carpet Paint and Tile Pro-Am.

""Leading the way is third year trainee from Mandurah CC Braden Becker and looking for win number two on the WA/NT Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series after firing an impressive 4-under 68.

Not to be outdone recent graduate from his traineeship Jason Chellew from Royal Fremantle GC has also let his intentions be known after playing his way into form. Chellew finished 4th last week in Port Hedland and has started right where he left off with his own round of 4-under.

Becker and Chellew have played a lot of golf together over the past few years within their traineeship and are looking to make their mark in the professional ranks.

"I’m really enjoying competing at this level," said Chellew.

"It’s been a slow transition, but I’ve been playing my way into form and I’m pushing myself to get better, hopefully I can keep it going tomorrow."

Becker who played in Broome last year knows just how tough it is to get across the line and is planning on pushing himself tomorrow.

" I love playing up here in Broome; you can relax off the course and then get serious on the course when it matters."

"Chellew beat me by one shot last week so I’m hoping it’s my turn tomorrow!"

Round two of the Broome Furnishings Carpet Paint and Tile Pro-Am commences at 11:00am tomorrow.
