Richard Backwell has consolidated his spot in the field for tomorrow’s Sunshine Coast Masters with a win at the Cricks Twin Waters Legends Pro-Am.
Finishing with a score of 4-under 68 the Queenslander finished the season with his fifth win for 2015.
"Getting a win is a very rare thing and especially in the company of playing greats," said Backwell.
"The good score today gives me a lot of confidence going into tomorrow’s event."
Playing the events this week and supporting the Sunshine Coast Masters have been players such as Peter Senior, Rodger Davis, Ian Baker-Finch and Mike Harwood.
Today was the final round in which players were looking to secure a position in the leading Legends PGA Professionals hoping to win the inaugural Sunshine Coast Masters.
The previous two qualifying events were the Noosa Legends Pro-Am and the Schweppes Peregian Springs Legends Pro-Am.
Those players with the best aggregate score from all three rounds will now compete again at Twin Waters Golf Club tomorrow where they will include this final round to gain an overall combined score.
Going into tomorrow’s round with the best aggregate score is Peter Senior who had three under par rounds for a combined total of 9-under par, five shots clear of his nearest rival Tim Elliot.
Also in contention alongside Backwell who has a combined total of 3-under par is Mike Harwood who sits a further shot back.
The Sunshine Coast Masters will commence tomorrow at Twin Waters Golf Club where all players will be teeing off at from 8.00am and lead groups from 9.30am.
