Adam Scott has secured back-to-back victories on the PGA TOUR winning the World Golf Championship – Cadillac Championship by one shot over Bubba Watson.

Firing a final round of 3-under 69 Scott ended regulation play on 12-under 276 to secure his second World Golf Championship title since the 2011 Bridgestone Invitational.

It was a remarkable comeback for the 35-year-old who survived two double bogeys and a shank in his final round to overcome a three shot deficit and win his 13th TOUR title.

However, his retune to conventional putting didn’t let him down emerging as the man to beat after a spree of six birdies in nine holes.

"It was such a challenge out there today. I knew if I could just get a couple before the turn maybe I’ll have a chance and everything fell the right way for me today, especially on 18," said Scott.

"I think I’ve used my experience to my advantage the last couple of weeks around these tough courses, although you never want quads and doubles,"

"On 18, I hit it right where I aimed it, I had to aim it right there because the tree was right in my line to get to the green. I thought the wind was strong enough it would cut, it just didn’t cut at all but I hit it so well it flew the hazard and then I was so lucky for it to stay up inside the hazard line. When you’re that lucky you better get them up and down."

"You’ve got to push yourself so hard now to be the class of player that’s out here now. I can’t believe I’ve won in back-to-back weeks but to win a World Golf Championship is huge and I’ve just got to keep pushing out the next few weeks." 

Starting Sunday three behind World Number 3 Rory McIlroy, Scott needed a fast start and got it with a birdie at the par-5 first.

But things went awry two holes later when he notched a momentum killing double bogey and followed it with what appeared to be a fatal mistake when he made another two holes later.

At 3-over for the day it looked like Scott’s chances were done but putting his 15 years of experience on TOUR to good use he rallied and with a flawless back nine captured one of the most prestigious titles in the game.

With two wins in two weeks Scott is now among the favourites for the year’s first Major in four weeks’ time, his transition from the anchored broomstick putter complete and his game, and attitude, in outstanding shape.

Overcoming a quadruple bogey at last week’s Honda Classic to win then surviving two double bogies in his final round today on his way to victory speaks volumes about the level of Scott’s commitment this early in the year.

While Scott is playing as well as he ever has at the moment Doral proved a tougher ask for the rest of the Australian contingent this week.

His win today Scott will move World Number six and number one on the FexEx Cup standings.

Jason Day wasn’t at his best during the week but a 1-under-par final round sew him move seven places up the leader board to T7.

Marc Leishman also snuck into the top 30 at 2-over for the four days but it was disappointing for the rest.
