John Senden produced consistent golf at the Byron Nelson tournament to lead home the Australian challenge in Texas.
Senden was under par all four days on his way to a 7-under total and T41 finish, the solid golf seeing him earn 28 FedEx Cup points and move inside the top-100 on the standings.
Of the dozen Australians who teed up at TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas, Senden was one of four to play all four rounds with defending champion Steven Bowditch and Cameron Percy were eliminated after 54 holes.
Marc Leishman, Cameron Smith, Matt Jones, Robert Allenby, Greg Chalmers and Aaron Baddeley all missed the 36 hole cut.
Web.com Tour graduates Rhein Gibson and Rod Pampling both showed glimpses of form in making the cut though both finished well down the standings.
Gibson started the week strong with rounds of 67 and 68 but faded on the weekend to be 2-under for the week and T66, Pampling finishing at the same total with scores of 70-68-68-72.
While both would have like to finish higher on the leaderboard, making the cut is a step in the right direction for both after several missed weekends in the first half of the season.
Bowditch has struggled for much of 2016 but as defending champion lifted over the first two days with rounds of 68-70.
A third round 75 saw him miss Sunday’s action but after a horror run of golf he will be encouraged to have put together two good scores.
Stuart Appleby was the next best after Senden, his T58 result adding $16,000 to the $344,000 he’s already earned in his quest to keep his card for 2017.
Appleby needs to add a further $242,000 in six starts to assure another year on the PGA TOUR as his major medical extension runs out.
