Goss looking to stay hot

After his best performance of 2016 at last week’s inaugural Lincoln Land Charity Championship, Oliver Goss will want to keep the run going when he tees up the Utah Championship on Thursday.

""The West Australian was T6 after four sub-par rounds; the week highlighted by a third round of 9-under 62.

The result was his first top-10 of the season and having now found something in his game he will be motivated to keep the run going as the season enters its crucial final stages.

Goss moved from outside the top-100 on the money list to 84th but needs to advance to the top-75 in the next five events if he hopes to be in the running for a PGA TOUR card via the upcoming four event Finals Series.

Also needing a strong finish to the season are Bryden Macpherson, Mathew Goggin and Steve Allan, all currently languishing outside the top-100 earners.

Macpherson posted his best finish of 2015 when T18 at this event 12-months ago and will be looking to draw on those good memories as will Steve Allan who finished T11.

There are seven Australians teeing up this week, Scott Gardiner and Peter Lonard are also in the field though neither made the cut at this course last year.

Brett Drewitt, the best placed Australian on the money list at 39th, finished near the tail of the field here last year but with a place in the top-25 on the money list within reach, every week is an important.

If Drewitt can play his way into the top-25 prior to the Finals Series getting underway at the end of next month he will secure a PGA TOUR card for 2017.
