After a disastrous 2016 campaign which ended with wrist surgery Mathew Goggin makes his return to competitive golf this week at the Web.com Tour’s Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship in the Dominican Republic.

""A five time winner on the secondary circuit Goggin made just one cut in 20 starts last year but now playing pain free can begin the process of rebuilding his game.

Regarded as one of the better ball strikers in golf it was only two years ago Goggin won on the Web.com Tour and with the wrist injury now behind him signs for 2017 are positive.

Goggin is joined in this week’s field by three other Australians, Robert Allenby, Jamie Arnold and Rhein Gibson all making the journey to South America.

Arnold was the only one of the three to make the cut at last week’s tournament in Mexico and it was a much needed result as it was just the second time he qualified for the weekend in seven starts for the year.

Allenby and Gibson both played poorly by their standards in Mexico and both need to lift in coming weeks as the season picks up pace.

It has been a slow start for both players in 2017, Allenby making just two cuts in five starts and Gibson four in seven starts.

Goggin is the only one of the four to have played this event previously, missing the cut in 2016.

Oliver Goss is listed as an alternate for the tournament in what would be his first start for the year.
