Without status on the PGA TOUR Champions when he turned 50 in July, David Mckenzie has played remarkable golf to qualify for the first of the season ending Charles Schwab Cup playoff events where he finished inside the top-20.

""McKenzie, who played the Web.com Tour for several years and one season on the PGA TOUR, has notched three top-10 finishes in five starts on the over 50’s circuit to be among the top 72 money earners heading to the Schwab Cup playoffs.

The likeable Victorian teed up in the first of the three tournaments at the Dominion Energy Charity Classic in Virginia this week and finished T18 to ensure he gets another start next week.

McKenzie has Monday qualified for four events in the US and alongside his top-10 at the Senior Open in Wales, his first event as a senior, has two other top-10 finishes to his name.

That was good enough to lift him to 57th on the points list with more than $280,000 in earnings after last week’s tournament and with another $24,000 coming this week he looks likely to make it all the way to the season ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
