Baddeley best in San Antonio

Aaron Baddeley has maintained his perfect record at TPC San Antonio where he claimed top Australian honours at the Valero Texas Open.

"AaronBaddeley has played the event at the Greg Norman designed layout seven times and seven times he has made the cut with just one finish outside the top-30 in that time.

The four time TOUR winner was the only Australasian to finish in red figures for the week, his 7-under, 72 hole total good for a share of 16th.

Baddeley stormed to the finish line on Sunday with three birdies in his final four holes to post his third 71 of the week to go alongside a Saturday 68.

Danny Lee (T51) and Rod Pampling (T68) were the only other Australasians to make the cut with one of the best performances of the week coming from John Senden.

The veteran Queenslander continues to impress in his comeback to top flight golf, making the 36-hole cut in Texas but just falling short of the 54-hole mark.

Senden opened with rounds of 74-70 to make the cut easily but struggled on day three with a 76 which included four dropped shots in four holes to start his inward nine.

There are understandable and expected signs of rust in Senden’s game after such a long lay-off but his overall play was both encouraging and trending in the right direction.

Of more concern is the play of Adam Scott who missed his second cut of the year in San Antonio with his putting once again an issue.

Scott lost more than three strokes to the field on the greens in his first round and after two rounds had a Strokes Gained Putting statistic of -1.3.

Having fallen outside the world’s top-50, Scott is not yet qualified for the U.S. Open in June and needs to turn around his form sooner than later.

Cameron Percy, Greg Chalmers, Matt Jones, Geoff Ogilvy and Steven Bowditch all also missed the weekend.
