The Kolon Korean Open has proved a tough task for international players and the five-strong Australian contingent felt that pain at the Woo Jeong Hills course with just one surviving the 36-hole cut.
Junseok Lee, who plays predominantly on the Korean Tour, saved his best till last on his way to a T32 result, his 2-under 69 Sunday one of only 14 sub-70 rounds.
Known for its difficult greens running at diabolical speeds, Travis Smyth, Terry Pilkadaris, Jake Higginbottom and Daniel Nisbet all fell victim to the course.
Pilkadaris came closest to qualifying for the weekend at 5-over and two outside the cut line, the rest well off the pace after the opening two days.
All will now be looking forward to a more recognisable test at this week’s Thailand Open.
