Victorian Josh Younger is expected to lead the charge at the NSW PGA Championship being played at Riverside Oaks Golf Resort from 4-7 December.
Younger has been in top form in his last two starts on the PGA Tour of Australasia finishing tied 10th at the Emirates Australian Open and runner-up at the BetEasy Masters.
With big name players drawing all the attention the past two weeks, Younger has been able to fly under the radar.
However, on the back of two top-10 performances Younger is firmly in the spot light this week.
‘It’s been good the past couple of weeks, a little bit of a surprise but looking to build on it now," said Younger who believes all areas of his game are in good shape.
"Everything has been pretty good, I played really well at the Masters and just got better each day, then last week it was a bit the same."
Riding a wave of confidence, Younger has changed his approach to tournaments and it seems to be paying dividends.
"I am taking it for what it is but I am definitely feeling more confident going into the next two weeks," added Younger.
"I am just trying to have a bit of fun and enjoy it a bit more rather than stressing out about it."
While he shirks the favourite tag, Younger is acutely aware of what a strong performance this week could mean for his future.
"The competition out here each week is strong, anyone can win. I’m not really looking at that. I will just keep plugging away," added Younger who is currently 8th on the money list.
"One thing I am looking at is to try and finish as high as I possibly can on the Order of Merit."
"With all the Tour School exemptions for next year on offer you might almost get through to final stage at some of them."
"It’s a big help, instead of having to go through three stages at most Tour Schools."
A win this week would earn Younger the lion’s share of the AU$110,000 prize purse which would move him to sixth on the Order of Merit.
In addition to prizemoney the winner will also receive Official World Golf Rankings points and will be exempt onto the PGA Tour of Australasia for the remainder of this season and the following two years.
The NSW PGA Championship will be played at Riverside Oaks Golf Resort in Cattai from 4-7 December.
Spectators are welcome and entry is free.
