Being played at City Golf Golf in Toowoomba, which also hosts the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia’s Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship, players battled 60kms winds throughout the day.
Wind specialist David Hando showed his skill recording back-to-back victories at the City Legends Pro-Am.
Hando fired an even par 70 for a three shot win over Richard Backwell, Martin Pettigrew and current Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour Order of Merit leader Tim Elliott.
“I really enjoy playing this course, it suits my eye and it’s a stop on the Legends Tour that I look forward to each year,” said Hando.
“It was a demanding day with the wind, but I felt at home after playing many rounds at my windswept home course of Shelly Beach on the New South Wales Central Coast. It no doubt helped me out today and led to my first win on the Legends Tour in 2017.”
Professionals will now leave the Darling Downs region for the picturesque sea side town of Bargara, with its annual Legends Pro-Am teeing off on Tuesday.
