The skies in Victoria cleared just in time for 42 Professionals to tee it up at the Evolution Print Neanger Park Pro-Am.

Following heavy rain overnight and early in the morning, players were happy to see the sun in time for the 11am tee off. However, they didn’t escape easily with strong winds wrecking havoc across the course even bringing down a large tree branch on the 17^th fairway.

With home club hero, Lucas Herbert on course, the fans turned defied the weather and turned up to follow their local favourite.

Herbert didn’t disappoint either with an opening birdie before making the turn in 1-under 35. An eagle attempt slide by on 11 but the subsequent birdie took him to 2-under.  Another birdie on the 15^th saw Herbert at 3-under, but unfortunately that’s where he stayed finally handing in a card for a 68.

Two time defending champion David Bransdon looked to have a three-peat all sown up when he birdied the par-3 16^th to go to 4-under the card.

He had made it all the way to the 18^th tee without a bogey but an errant approach left him with a difficult chip. When that slid 10 foot past the hole he had to make the return putt to save par and take the lead.

Unfortunately Bransdon ended up tapping in for a bogey five to finish at 3-unrder 68 in second place tied with Herbert and Yarrawonga PGA Trainee Adam Burdett, ending his chances of three-in-a-row.

New South Welshman Lindsay Wilson cast aside his poor result at Keysborough the day before and returned to the form that saw him finishing second at Curlewis and Safety Beach in recent weeks.

Carding a 4-under 67, which was highlighted by consecutive birdies on the 15^th and 16^th holes, Wilson took out the Evolution Print Neangar Park Pro-Am and move to second place on the National Pro-Am Order of Merit after the first six tournaments of 2017.
