South African Chris Williams has overcome the in form Michael Harwood to capture the Sylvania BMW Legends Pro-Am at Cronulla Golf Club today.
The result increases Harwood’s lead on the E-Z-GO Legends Tour Order of Merit over recent Australian Senior PGA Champion Roger Davis.
Harwood followed up his opening round of five-under-par 65 with an even par 70 to finish in outright second, three shots back of Williams.
The most impressive performance of the tournament came from Legends Tour rookie David Hando who despite a three-putt-bogey on the 18th green, carded a stunning round of seven-under-par 63 to jump into the top 10.
Defending champion Allan Cooper once again showed his love for Cronulla, carding a final round five-under-par 65 to charge up the leader board into a share of third
Harwood will join the pack once again on Friday for the Kareela Moran Group Legends Pro-Am where he defends yet another title, something he will have to deal with a great deal in 2016.
"It’s been a good year on the Legends Tour here in Australia after some mixed results in Europe and although it’s a disappointing way to finish today" said Harwood.
Williams, a frequent visitor to Australia for the Legends Tour says it’s a great way to cap off a very hectic few weeks.
"I have loved my time in Australia and I always enjoy coming back" said Williams who will be departing Australia first thing Friday morning.
"It is a great tour here and it is really getting very strong each year I come back the talent is deeper and makes it harder to win" he added.
The E-Z-GO Legends Tour continues it’s way through Sydney next week with events at Northbridge on Tuesday, Rosnay on Wednesday and Gordon on Thursday before wrapping up at Hurstville on Friday.
