Craig Warren has won the Stacks Finance Taree Legends Pro-Am in the bushfire-stricken township of Taree with a round of 6-under 66.
Warren made the most of his good form of late on the Ladbrokes Legends Tour to claim a one-stroke win over David Fearns.
Despite recent bushfires, the Taree Golf Club staff and volunteers did an amazing job to host this year’s tournament to great success.
The 53-player field commended the club on a fantastic event following the hardship the town had endured.
“Given everything the town has gone through recently and given the club was an evacuation point just a couple of weeks ago I’m speechless that we are here playing,” Warren said
“I thank everyone involved and we hope the rain comes soon.”
A jetlagged Fearns, who arrived in Australia the day prior to the event after taking part in Champions Tour Q-School in the US, posted a round of 3-under 67.
Richard Gilkey continued a strong year with a third place finish at 2-under the card.
David Hill, Brad Burns, Tim Elliott and Richard Backwell tied for fourth place at 1-under the card.
The Legends Tour now moves to Queensland for the One Agency Noosa Legends Pro-Am.
