He might be over 50 years of age but don’t be fooled, this rookie PGA Pro is determined to succeed.

"GuyFor a Financial Planner, Guy Wall is a fantastic golfer. He competed regularly in his club championships and mid-amateur tournaments, he loved the thrill of competition, it got his blood pumping.

As Wall entered his mid-40’s his mind started to wander, it started to dream of life as a Professional golfer on the E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour.

"I only took up golf later, when I was 20 I was still playing off a handicap of 10. But I just got better and better the older I got," said Wall.

"Specifically the last 10 years it (turning Professional) is something I have been telling everybody that I wanted to do."

Determined to see his dream become reality Wall called on the expertise of renowned PGA Professional John Serhan who has a long track record of coaching Tour Professionals.

Together they built a team comprising of a physio as well as a strength and conditioning coach, Wall’s desire to succeed was evident throughout his thorough preparations.

"For me, if I was going to do it, I was going to put 100% in and make sure that when I went to Q-School I gave myself the best opportunity, I didn’t want to leave any stone unturned," added Wall who attended E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour Qualifying School at the start of 2015.

"I had business in Melbourne last year and every time I came down I added on a weekend and went to Sandhurst and practiced."

"I won by a shot, so it definitely paid off."

Now that he is on the E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour, Wall loves the experience of playing alongside men he previously admired on TV.

"I played in the foursomes down at St Andrews Beach, and standing on the first tee next to Ian Baker-Finch, I was thinking, ‘wow, pinch me!’ It’s weird," added Wall.

"For me, the best experience, is listening to the stories from Mike Harwood,Ian Baker-Finch, Noel Ratcliffe and Rodger Davis."

"Sitting around after the game and listening to them talk about their British Open stories, their losses, their wins and what they have done."

But more than just enjoying their stories, Wall is learning from them and as a rookie there is alot for him to soak up.

"I look at their golf game and on the driving range everyone seems the same but Ian Baker-Finch’s putting stroke is phenomenal and Peter Fowler gets it up and down from anywhere," added Wall.

"But I am more in awe of how they just score all the time. Irrespective of golf swing or golf game they score. They know how to grind."

"If the conditions are really bad and the rest of us shoot 4-over somehow they still manage to shoot 2-under, I don’t know how, that is what I have to learn."

"These guys have been playing golf for a living for 30 years of their life;I have been doing it for weeks."

Despite the short amount of time Wall has been on the E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour he managed to record his first victory.

He finished tied first with Michael Barry, Allan May and Lucien Tinkler at the two day Jerry Stolhand Memorial Legends Pro-Am.

Always looking to push the boundaries and continue to succeed, Wall backed this up with a win at his very next tournament, the Cootamundra Legends Pro-Am.
