The 2015 WA Golf Industry Gala Awards sponsored by ADH Golf and Utility Vehicles Club Car was recently held at Crown Perth.

Emcee Tim Gossage entertained a crowd of 450 delegates including golfers, Members, industry personnel and dignitaries from the four governing bodies, the PGA Western Australia/Northern Territory Division, Golf WA, Golf Managers Association Western Australia and the Course Superintendents of Western Australia.

For the first time, the awards also attracted Federal Government recognition with the attendance of the Honourable Sussan Ley MP who currently presides as the Minister of Health and Minister for Sport who was able to see first hand the outstanding success that golf brings to Western Australia.

The PGA was well represented throughout the evening and welcomed the successful graduating class of WA/NT Trainees to full PGA Members.

Nick D’Avoine (Assistant Professional) received the Outstanding Game Development Award 2014 for his consistent work and growth of the Junior Development squads at Lake Karrinyup Country Club.

Mount Lawley Head Professional Duncan Kegg received the PGA Teaching Professional of the Year award. Kegg has continued to make strong contributions to developing junior golf and lists reducing club members handicaps and building the ladies programme as his proudest achievements. Coinciding with his outstanding work Duncan was recently announced as the WA State Junior Girls Coach.

Rob Farley celebrated his 30th year anniversary as a PGA Member and awarded the prestigious Hilary Lawler PGA Professional of the Year Award.  Rob is an exemplary representative of the current day PGA Professional and displays these attributes daily in his role as Head Professional at Marangaroo Golf Course. Rob’s caring and approachable nature to members and juniors is well known in the industry, as is his mentoring and guidance of WA’s PGA Trainee’s past and present. Rob continues to play an active role in golf across Western Australia and the Northern Territory and is currently serving as the Chairman of the PGA WA/NT Division.

Mark Duder was also honoured on the night with the WA Golf Industry Recognition Award for his great contribution to golf in Western Australia throughout his career. Mark, a PGA Member, first started his traineeship in 1962 at Royal Queensland and completed his time at Royal Perth in 1964. Throughout his career Mark has been instrumental to developing golf in Western Australia, Northern Territory and across the country.  

PGA Pro-Am of the Year – sponsored by Golf Car World – EZGO awarded to Chameleon Resources Karratha Pro-Am

PGA Tournament of the Year – sponsored by Golf Car World – EZGO went to the Nexus South West Open at Bunbury Golf Club.

Both events were outstanding and highlighted the significant work and contributions that staff and local committees go through to ensure a great event has been delivered.

The 2015 WA Golf Industry Awards Gala showcased the terrific contributions and work being delivered by PGA Mmbers across the state.
