The Townsville Pro-Am made its debut back onto the PGA
Pro-Am Series for the first time since 2013 to the great delight of Ed Stedman
and Damien Jordan.
Travelling from Cairns to Townsville, Stedman and Jordan
each fired round of 3-under 67 to share victory.
This was the first time Professionals had the opportunity to
play the new holes at Townsville Golf Club.
"I have only played at Townsville a couple of times. I
hadn’t played the new holes before, but that can sometimes play to your
advantage," said Stedman.
"My accuracy from the tee enabled me to keep my ball in
play. Along the way I was able to make a few putts, so all in all it’s been a
pretty successful day."
Sitting a shot behind the winners was New Zealander Ben
Campbell who is returning from injury.
Local Townsville Professional John Price finished outright
fourth on 1-under the card while Jordan Mullaney rounded out the top-5 on even
par.
In its return to the schedule the Townsville Pro-Am was a huge success due to the support of local businesses and Townsville Enterprise.
The next event on the PGA Pro-Am Series is the Pioneer Valley Pro-Am on Wednesday 13th July.
