Let’s take a look at 2014’s top performing Aussie’s on the world stage

Adam Scott: It’s been a big year for Adam Scott; he reached World Number 1 on the Official World Golf Rankings and then the next week won his 11th PGA TOUR tournament. By winning the Crowne Plaze Invitational he became the first person to win all four PGA TOUR events staged in Texas. He also finished top-10 at the US Open and Open Championship.

Jason Day: This year Day stamped his authority in the international golf landscape when he won the World Golf Championship – Accenture Match Play Championship. Who could forget his thrilling final match over Victor Dubuisson but he also overcame Thorbjorn Olesen, Billy Horschel, George Coetzee, Louis Oosthuizen and Rickie Fowler. Day was plagued by injury late in the year but returned strong to win the unofficial Franklin Templeton Shootout with Cameron Tringale

Marc Leishman: Leish slid under the radar a little this year with six of his colleagues winning on the PGA TOUR, however there were plenty of highlights for the boy from Warrnambool. He recorded a runner-up finish at the Farmers Insurance Open and a further three top-3 finishes including one at The Open Championship.

John Senden: Sendo returned to the winner’s circle this year with his victory at the Valspar Championship. He then went on to be the top finishing Aussie at The Masters and record a further four top-10 finishes.

Matt Jones: Who could forget the Shell Houston Open and that 46-foot putt for par to make the playoff with Matt Kuchar, then that 42-yeard chip in for birdie was just magic. Matt Jones’ first PGA TOUR win certainly provided plenty of content for the highlights reel!

Steven Bowditch: In 2013 Bowdo retained his PGA TOUR card for the first time; in 2014 he notched up his first victory on the Tour. It’s been a big year for the Queenslander who also qualified to play The Masters and PGA Championship for the first time.

Geoff Ogilvy: A break proved just the tonic for Ogilvy this year. After making the cut in 10 out of 19 tournaments, Ogilvy took a break from golf to recharge the batteries. In just his second start back he notched up his 8th victory on the PGA TOUR at the Barracuda Championship

Scott Hend: The true international man of Aussie golf, Hend has competed on the PGA Tour of Australasia, Asian Tour, European Tour, PGA TOUR, OneAsia, Korean Tour, Web.com Tour and Japan Tour in 2014! This year he won his 11th professional title at the Hong Kong Open which is co-sanctioned by the European Tour and Asian Tour, he also recorded a further six top-10 finishes.

Stuart Appleby: A stalwart of Australian golf everyone loves to see Appleby playing well! Recording five top-20 finishes in the regular season, Appleby made it into the season ending FedEx Cup events. A runner-up finish at The Barclays ensured he hung around until the BMW Championship.

Wade Ormsby: The South Australian had a standout year on the European Tour to easily retain his card for next year. He missed just five cuts all year and recorded four top-10 finishes.
