McCardle, Moules show form in SA pro-am

South Australians Max McCardle and Brad Moules have won the Buildlogix Coppercoast Pro-Am at Copperclub The Dunes in Port Hughes with rounds of 5-under 67.

"MaxA home state advantage aided the pair’s run as both looked strong throughout the day, their final scores two shots ahead of the next best player.

McCardle’s efforts saw him take back-to-back victories at the Copperclub course after also shooting 67 at the 2018 tournament to feature in a four-way tie.

Young Victorian Will Heffernan took advantage of the benign early morning conditions to post a 3-under 69 to hold the clubhouse lead.

The course was in perfect condition and surprisingly, the usual afternoon wind stayed away opening the door to excellent afternoon scoring.

Heffernan’s efforts saw him finish in a tie for third place alongside Campbell Rawson, Peter Cooke and Simon Pope who also posted scores of 3-under 69.

The Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series now moves to The Vines GC of Reynella on Monday for the final tournament of the SA swing, the Air Diffusion Agencies Pro-Am.

""Duke and McGraw took full advantage of perfect early morning conditions to post their winning score.

Duke’s round included two eagles while McGraw started off all guns blazing to be 6-under par through his first 10 holes including an eagle on the par-5 10th.

Local pros McCardle and Cooke, playing in the afternoon breeze carded a great -5 under 67 to join the morning leaders.

Cooke carded seven birdies for his 67 while McCardle shot six birdies and just one bogey.

Ruben Lal finished 5th, one shot behind the winners after getting his tee shot stuck up a tree on the final hole which cost him a bogey.

Next week the SA swing of the Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series heads to Murray Bridge on Wednesday for the 54 Hole Burke Urban PGA Classic.
